Back in 1998, then Mayor, Ed Rotchford, saw a need to provide financial support to students in the community who were pursuing post-secondary educational opportunities. He approached a group of local businessmen about starting a scholarship program, a Dollars for Scholars chapter. Now, as we enter our 25th year, we are proud of the progress we have made in increasing the number of scholarships offered as well as the dollar amount of the awards. Through successful fundraising, the scholarship awards have increased from $1,000 to $4,000. We will be offering the following awards for the 2023-2024 academic year:

  • Six $4,000 one-year Academic Scholarships
  • Two $4,000 George and Christine Winandy one-year Academic Scholarships for students majoring in a science, math, computer technology, education, music or nursing program
  • One $4,000 Charles E. Priester one-year Academic Scholarship
  • One $4,000 Nicholas J. Helmer one-year Academic Scholarship for a student residing in Prospect Heights
  • One $4,000 Lyn J. Kearns one-year Academic Scholarship for a student majoring in education or nursing
  • Two $4,000 Vocational/Trade School Scholarships

Prospect, Prospect Heights, Rolling Meadows, and Wheeling, Illinois and/or students that are attending or graduated from a high school in District 214 are eligible to apply for scholarships offered by Scholarship Assistance Fund.
